Work completed on Woodland View
Work has been completed on a new acute mental health and community facility at Ayrshire Central Hospital.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran, along with construction partner Balfour Beatty, has developed Woodland View, which has 11 wards with 206 en-suite bedrooms.
This integrated mental health and community facility brings together a full range of outpatient and inpatient facilities, including:
The new facility will be predominately single storey and will have 11 wards with 60 adult acute beds, 20 mental health rehabilitation beds, 10 mental health/addiction rehabilitation beds, 10 forensic rehabilitation beds, eight low-secure beds, eight psychiatric intensive care beds, 30 elderly mental health beds, 30 complex care beds, and 30 intermediate care beds.
The design of the new development provides the best-possible healing environment for patients and a safe working environment for staff.
As part of the interior design scheme, artwork is being used to enhance the surroundings. This includes permanent public displays and collaborative arts programmes and exhibitions. Art has also been incorporated into the wayfinding strategy for the building.
