The idea of the gullwing design was to allow 4m clear span to the front section to cover the ambulances and 1.6m section to the rear to allow for staff/patient and pedestrian cover
Fordingbridge were approached by a national main contractor to provide an ambulance bay canopy as part of a new 2-storey Emergency Department extension to Leighton Hospital which is managed by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Working in collaboration with the architect and main contractor we designed a 65m long gullwing canopy with an overall span of 5.6m. The idea of the gullwing design was to allow 4m clear span to the front section to cover the ambulances and 1.6m section to the rear to allow for staff/patient and pedestrian cover.
